How it works
The U.S. Embassy is selling surplus movable property (SMP) using a web-based electronic auction system.
Each auction will be active for a specific period of time, with the start and end date clearly indicated. This information is shown in the information panel of the web application. During this period, you can actively submit your bids for the surplus property.
The maximum number of bids is clearly stated for each item. Increasing your bids is possible only in the local currency, the Central African CFA franc. While the auction is active you should monitor your bids so you can react to any price developments.
Successful bidders will be notified via email immediately following the conclusion of each auction. Emails sent to the winners will contain a link to the auction application where you can review your items, after logging in successfully.
ALL SALES ARE FINAL and are closed when the buyer signs the receipt at the time of pick up.
How to pay
Payment for the lots/items for which you have won the bidding is due within two working days and is possible by cash at the Embassy cashier window.
To schedule cash payments, winners are requested to call the number +236 75 73 56 36 or email banguiauction@state.gov
Furthermore, you must pay all customs and taxes due to the Government of the Central African Republic prior to retrieving any lots that you have won.
How to pick up
In order to retrieve your items, you must present a printed copy of your payment receipt which lists the lots you have won.
This receipt will be provided to you by the Embassy cashier at the time of payment.
Pick-up must be within 2 business days after notification of payment and receipt of your receipt (which you must present for pickup). You will be solely responsible for any subsequent handling procedures and removal of the lots/items within these dates. If items are not removed in a timely manner, they will be considered abandoned and disposed of.
PLEASE NOTE: All items are sold AS IS. The sale is considered final when the items are retrieved, and the receipt is signed by the buyer or their designee.
The Embassy will dispose of any items not picked up by the deadline. There are no exceptions to this rule, and the Embassy will not provide refunds for items not picked up by the deadline.
Please note that the Embassy warehouse does not deliver items purchased at the auction. Therefore, all buyers are responsible for picking up their own purchases. No assistance will be provided to load your vehicle so please ensure that you come with adequate help to manage your merchandise.
