How it works

The U.S. Consulate General in Hong Kong & Macau is selling property via a web-based electronic auction.  Each auction will only be active for a set period of time as listed on the auction page itself.  During this period, you can actively take part and submit your bid for the property.

Registering to Bid

In order to bid on the online auctions, you must first be registered in the system. You may register and create an account either with a personal email or a U.S. government issued email if you have one. You will then receive a follow-up email to confirm your email address. Don't forget to check your spam folder! Then sign in to your account and find the Post you want to subscribe to and click Subscribe. Choose the lot you want, and place a bid by entering the amount you want to bid and submitting your bid.

Bidding on Items

Bids are only in the local currency which is the Hong Kong Dollar (HKD).  During the auction, you should monitor your bids so that you can react to the latest price developments.

At the end of an auction, an automated email will be sent to bid winners, the total cost of the lots won, and the bid identification number.  This page must be printed and brought with you when picking up your won lots.

Items Sold "As Is"

All items are sold "AS IS, WHERE IS" with all faults.  There are no warranties or representations of merchantability, of fitness, nor of any other kind, express or implied.  Written descriptions are our opinions and should in non-way be construed as a guarantee of any kind as to the authenticity, age, condition, materials, or any other feature of the items being sold.  The Auction Team attempts to catalog every lot correctly and will attempt to point out any defects but will not be responsible or liable for the correctness of the catalog or other descriptions of the lots.

Vehicles are as sold "AS IS, WHERE IS" with all faults.  There are no warranties or representations of merchantability, of fitness, nor of any other kind, express or implied.  Purchasers are responsible for and will be required to pay for all associated fees and taxes including but not limited to customs duties, deregistration costs, inspections costs, towing costs, etc.  Bidders are strongly encouraged to verify the exact registration process for vehicles purchased from a a diplomatic mission.  The Consulate bears no responsibility in assisting the purchaser with the registration of auctioned/sold vehicles.

Right to Cancel

The Consulate reserves the unilaterally right to cancel any and all bids as well as any lots won for any reason.  In the event of any dispute between bidders, or in the event of doubt as to the validity of any bid, the Consulate Officers will have the final discretion to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer and resell the article in dispute.

How to pay for your items

Payment for your items is possible only by bank money transfer to the following The U.S. Consulate in Hong Kong & Macau bank account:

In the case you have bid and won more than one item you can pay the total amount due of all items in one payment but all lot items must be identified. Items can be retrieved only when successful payment has been received. Receipt of payment is considered complete when money reaches the U.S. Consulate in Hong Kong & Macau bank account. Upon full payment, bid winners will be given an official receipt that must be presented along with their bid winner's email when picking up the items.

Note: It could take more than one day to transfer money from your bank to the U.S. Consulate in Hong Kong & Macau bank. It will not be possible to pick up your items if your payment is not indicated on the U.S. Consulate in Hong Kong & Macau bank account.

How to pick-up your items

In order to retrieve your items, you must present the receipt of bank money transfer with all required details included in the payment paragraph above or a printed version of the Internet banking money transfer.  Please PRINT your winner's email & official receipt as this must be presented as proof of purchase with the listed lots when making your collection.  If someone else is collecting on your behalf, please ensure they have a copy of the printed winner's email & official receipt.

Any paid items that are not picked up during the scheduled time frame will be disposed of, and there will be no possibility for their retrieval.  After successful confirmation of payment for your items, our staff will move your items out to the front of the storage building.  From that point on, you are the owner of your merchandise.  You will have the full responsibility for subsequent handling procedures and removal from Consulate property in a timely manner.  If items are not removed in a timely manner, they may be considered abandoned and disposed of.
