How it works

Online Auction – U.S. Embassy Surplus Movable Property

The U.S. Embassy will sell surplus movable property (SMP) through a web‑based electronic auction.
How the auction works

  • Each auction has a clearly stated start and end date, shown on the auction website.
  • During this period, registered users may place and update bids on the listed items.
    Bidding
  • Each lot may have a maximum number of bids allowed; this limit appears in the lot description.
  • All bids must be placed in euros (EUR).
  • You are responsible for monitoring your bids during the auction and adjusting them as needed in response to other bidders.
    Notification of winners
  • At the end of the auction, winning bidders will receive an email.
  • The email will include a link to the auction website, where, after successful login, you can review the items you have won and see instructions for payment and pick‑up.
    Conditions of sale
  • All items are sold “AS‑IS, WHERE‑IS”, non‑returnable, and without warranty of any kind.
  • The U.S. Embassy makes no guarantee regarding the condition, quality, or suitability of the items.

How to pay for your items

Payment

Payment for your items is possible only by bank money transfer to the Embassy bank account: 

When making the transfer, please complete the fields as follows:

  1. Message for recipient: write “Auction” and the lot number(s) you are paying for.
  2. Variable symbol: enter your Unique Identification Number (UID), which you can find in the “Winners info” section of the auction website.
  3. Amount: enter the total amount in euros (EUR) corresponding to your winning bid(s).

If you have won more than one item, you may pay the total amount due in a single transfer, but you must list all lot numbers in the “Message for recipient” field as described in point 1 above.

Items will only be released after the Embassy receives your payment. Payment is considered received when the funds appear in the U.S. Embassy bank account.

Note: The transfer from your bank to the U.S. Embassy bank account may take more than one business day. You will not be able to pick up your items until the payment is confirmed in the Embassy’s bank account.

Attention! You have three business days from the end of the auction to complete the bank transfer for your winning bids. Otherwise, your lot will be assigned to the next bidder.

How to pick-up your items

Pickup:

In order to retrieve your items, you must present the original receipt of bank money transfer with all required details included in the payment paragraph above or a printed version of the Internet banking money transfer.

We will inform you of the collection details once we have confirmed your payment. Items will only be released after the Embassy receives your payment

Any paid items that are not picked up during the scheduled time frame will be disposed of, and there will be no possibility for their retrieval. In special cases or circumstances, you may arrange a different pick-up date and time by contacting the auction manager.

After successful confirmation of payment for your items, our staff will move your items out to the front of the storage building. From that time on, you are the owner of your merchandise. You will have the full responsibility for subsequent handling procedures and removal from Embassy property in a timely manner. If items are not removed in a timely manner they may be considered abandoned and disposed of.

Please note that auction items are not packaged, prepared for shipment, or shipped. If you wish to have it shipped to your address, it must be picked up by a third party (not a courier) who will be responsible to send the item himself as the sender.
