How it works

HOW IT WORKS:

The U.S. Embassies are selling surplus movable property (SMP) via a Web-Based Electronic Auction. Each auction will be activated for a period of time clearly stating the start and end date. This information is available on the information panel of the web application. Usually, it will be active from Monday to Friday lasting one week. During this period, you can actively take part and submit your bid for the surplus property. 

The maximum number of bids on one item is stated at each item. Increasing your bids is possible only in the local currency name. During the auction, you should monitor your bids so you can react to all bids price development. 

Email for winners will consist of link to the auction application where you can review your items, after successful login. 

The persons interested in the vehicle Dodge Durango can see it on Wednesday, July 10 from 10 to 11:30 am. in the Embassy facilities.

How to pay for your items

PAYMENT:

Payment for your items is possible only by bank money transfer to the Embassy bank account.  Proof of payment must be emailed to EcuadorSweepAcc@state.gov containing the following information:

1.  Winners UID (Unique Identification Number):  QTO00X-XXX

2.  Lots being paid (LOT XXXX)

3.  Amount transferred

4.  Copy of proof of payment (bank receipt, bank email confirmation, etc)

If you have bid and won the items, you can pay the total amount clearly identified when notifying the payment. items can be retrieved only when successful payment has been received. Receipt of payment is considered complete when the money reaches the U.S. Embassy bank account.

Note:  It could take more than one day to transfer money from your bank to the U.S. Embassy bank.  it will not be possible to pick up your items if your payment is not indicated on the U.S. Embassy bank account.

Payments from international accounts can be received.  Please email EcuadorSweepAcc@state.gov for instruction.

Payments must be completed from Monday, July 15 through July 17, 2024

The Embassy will send a separate email informing you when you will be able to retrieve your vehicles and goods.

How to pick-up your items

PICKUP:

In order to retrieve your vehicles and goods, you must present the original receipt of the bank money transfer with all required details included in the payment paragraph above or a printed version of the Internet banking money transfer.

Any paid items that are not picked up during the scheduled time frame will be disposed of, and there will be no possibility for their retrieval.  Only in special cases or circumstances, you may arrange a different pick-up date and time by contacting the auction manager.  (endericajs@state.gov).

After successful confirmation of payment for your items, our staff will move your items out to the front of the storage building. From that time on, you are the owner of your merchandise.  You will have full responsibility for subsequent handling procedures and removal from Embassy property in a timely manner. If items are not removed in a timely manner, may it be considered abandoned and disposed of.

Prior to the removal of the items auctioned and 48 hours in advance, the winning bidder must submit to the Embassy the full names and identification numbers of people to withdraw the items in order to get approval from the Security Office to enter the Embassy. If this information is not correct, the Embassy staff will not permit the access. This information should be submitted to QuitoEmbajadaSubastas@state.gov   

Delivery of goods and vehicles will be made with the following schedule: Wednesday, July 23 from 8H30 am to 12H30 pm, and from 13:30 to 16:00.  (Please note that only the vehicle Dodge Durango needs to be picked up from the Embassy and the three Toyotas need to be picked up from the Peace Corps offices).

To pick up the Vehicles, please follow these instructions:

Vehicles:  the winners will need to first notarize the Auction Certificate and Contract of Sale prior to the removal of the vehicle.  The Embassy will deliver the Auction Certificate and the supporting documentation on Friday, July 19 so the winner can complete the process in the Notary.
