How it works

Please go to the U.S. Consulate Guangzhou Online Auction website, https://online-auction.state.gov/en-US, and register so you can log in and participate in bidding. During the auction, you should monitor your bids so you can react to all bid price developments. After the auction is closed, lots will be awarded to the highest bidder, and the system will automatically send an email to notify the winner. The pictures are only for reference, and although they are real, they may not reflect the exact appearance of the items. The Consulate reserves the right to remove any items from the sale at any point in time and to dispose of any paid items that are not picked up within the specified pickup time. The Consulate reserves the unilateral right to cancel any and all bids as well as any lots won for any reason. In the event of any dispute between bidders, or in the event of doubt as to the validity of any bid, the Consulate Officers will have the final discretion to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer and resell the article in dispute.

Please contact the GSO Property office at GuangzhouAuction@state.gov if you have any questions.

  2. Bidders are responsible for any charges, such as taxes or duties, which may be assessed by the Government of China.
  3. Bidders found with incorrect contact information will be blocked.
  4. Successful bidders must pay for all their winning lots; lot selection is not permitted. Auction winners who refuse to pay for all their winning items will not be allowed to participate in any future auctions.
  5. Winning bidders are responsible for collecting their items within the specified pickup time.
  6. All sales are final; no refunds, returns, or exchanges are allowed or permitted.
  7. The Chinese translation is for information only and is not an official translation. In the event of any dispute, the English version will prevail.

How to pay for your items

A Consulate representative will contact the winning bidders via telephone or email the day after the auction closes to schedule payment. The winning bidders must submit full payment within 72 hours of the notification by paying in cash in person at the U.S. Consulate Guangzhou Cashier.

Pay by cash

To pay at the Consulate cashier window, you must provide your physical Official ID information (Chinese ID card or Passport) to the GSO Property office so that Consulate visitor access can be arranged in advance.

Winning bidders must make their payment in cash (RMB) and present their physical Official ID (Chinese ID card or Passport) to the cashier at the U.S. Consulate Guangzhou. The Consulate reserves the right to reject any old, damaged, or worn currency, as well as payment in coins.

If a bidder wins more than one item, they can pay the total amount due for all items in one payment, but all lot items must be identified. Items can be retrieved only when successful payment has been received. Receipt of payment is considered complete when a Bill of Sale (Factura) is provided by the cashier.

How to pick-up your items

After the auction closes and payment is made, a Consulate representative will contact you via email with a pickup date, time, and location. You must personally arrive at the location specified in the notification email to pick up the items you won. Pickup locations will generally be at the U.S. Consulate Guangzhou warehouse. Winning bidders are responsible for collecting their items within the specified pickup time. Winning bidders who fail to pay for or pick up the items they have won without reason will be suspended from bidding in future auctions.
