The U. S. Consulate General Ciudad Juarez is selling surplus movable property (SMP) via a Web-Based Electronic Auction.
The website link is https://online-auction.state.gov. Bidders will be required to create an account. Selecting the notification box is important to receive emails when the auction goes live and to receive a reminder just prior to the auction close.
Each auction will only be active for a set period of time with clear start and end dates and times. Typically, each auction will be active for two weeks. During this active period bidders can submit their bids for the surplus property.
The website will state the maximum number of bids, starting bid amount, and minimum bid increment for each item. All auctions are in Mexican Pesos. Bidders should monitor their bids while the auction is active in order to react to others’ bids.
All winning bidders will receive an email with a link to the auction application where they can review their items, after logging in. The email will also include specific instructions on payment and when to pick up purchased assets. This will normally occur during Consulate General business hours: Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Winning bidders must pick up, transport, and hire any labor necessary to retrieve assets won from the Consulate General grounds.
Special Note for U.S. citizen employees of the Consulate: The property is for personal use. You may not resell any purchases except to another U.S. Government citizen employee or at end of tour. For any sale to persons not having duty-free privileges, the employee will certify that any required local taxes have been satisfied.
Locally employed staff, personal service contractors, employees of contractors, and their relatives are authorized to participate in publicly advertised, competitive bid sales. Successful bidders must certify that the property is for his or her personal use and pay any local customs duty or taxes due.
Payment for online items won from a U.S. Consulate General Ciudad Juarez auction is possible only through Citibanamex branches.
