How it works

The U.S. Embassy Sarajevo is selling surplus movable property (SMP) via a Web Based Electronic Auction.

The auction will be active from March 25, 2026 at 10:00 AM through March 30, 2026 at 9:00 AM. During this period you can actively take part and submit your bid for the surplus property. In order to participate in auction, you should register yourself with your real full name and surname, BiH telephone number, and email address. Maximum number of bids on one item is stated at each item. Increasing your bids is possible only in the local currency name BAM. During the auction you should monitor your bids so you can react on all bids price development. Winning bidders will receive email confirmation once the auction has closed, further detailing electronic payment instructions and collection procedures. 


IMPORTANT INFO:

  • All items sold on auction are sold as is and the condition is unknown.
  • During the registration process, users are required to provide correct information, including first and last name, email address and valid BiH telephone number. If the user does not enter the correct information their account will be suspended, and they will be prevented from further participation.
  • Foreign citizens cannot participate in the auction.
  • The U.S. Government holds its right to reject any or all bids, as well as to all eventual changes if such occur under non planned reasons.

How to pay for your items

Payment 

Payment for purchased items is possible only in the following two ways:

  •  by bank transfer to the Embassy bank account 
  •  through Pay.gov 

Payments must be completed by Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 16:00. After selecting your payment method, you will receive a detailed email with precise payment instructions.

Payment instructions for bank transfer to the U.S. Embassy bank account

  • Bank Name: Raiffeisen Bank DD Sarajevo
  • TRN Number: 1610000000000011
  • Purpose of Payment: It is mandatory to first state the number 030001637-5, and after that you will fill in the word Auction and lot numbers you are paying for.
  • Recipient: US Embassy Sweep Account
  • In the field amount, put the total amount in BAM, for all your bid.

In the case you have bid and won more than one item you can pay the total amount due of all items in one payment, but all lot items must be identified as described above.

Items can be retrieved only when successful payment has been received. Receipt of payment is considered complete when money reaches the U.S. Embassy bank account.

Note: It could take more than one day to transfer money from your bank to the U.S. Embassy bank. It will not be possible to pick up your items if your payment is not indicated on the U.S. Embassy bank account.

Payment Instructions for Auctions / Proceeds of Sale using Pay.gov

  1. Log into the Pay.gov website at Pay.gov – Overseas Cashier Payments – CGFS Charleston posts.

     Select “Continue to the Form.”

     Please note: If you are paying through Pay.gov, payment is accepted in U.S. dollars only. The exchange rate will be clearly marked     with every auction.

  1. Enter your Name, Street Address, City, Country (use the drop-down menu and select “Bosnia and Herzegovina”), Daytime Phone Number, and Email Address. Leave the State field blank.
  2. In the Bill of Collection Number field, enter the lot number(s) you are paying for. For example, if you are paying for Lots 1 and 4, enter Lot1Lot4.
  3. In the Payment Owed To field, use the drop-down menu and select US-Embassy Sarajevo (BAE).
  4. In the Reason for Payment field, use the drop-down menu and select Auction/Proceeds of Sale.
  5. In the Payment Description field, enter (example):
    Month, 2026 U.S. Embassy Sarajevo Online Auction
  6. Include the Lot No.(s) and final amount owed. If you won multiple lots, you should make one combined payment. Be sure to list all lots in the Payment Description field.
  7. In the Amount field, enter the total amount for all lots won in U.S. dollars. This must match the amount provided in the notification email from the U.S. Embassy.
  8. Select Continue to proceed to payment details.
  9. On the next page, select your payment method: Bank account (ACH – only if you have a U.S. bank account), PayPal, or international credit/debit card. Then select Next.
  10. After entering your payment information, select Review and Submit Payment at the bottom right of the page.
  11. You will receive a payment confirmation from Pay.gov at the email address you provided.

Please retain all records. To expedite item pickup, forward your payment confirmation email to sarajevoauctions@state.govThe U.S. Embassy Sarajevo will notify you once payment is received and will arrange a time for item collection.

How to pick-up your items

Pickup Instructions

In order to collect the purchased items, it is necessary to present a printed copy of the winning bid email. Once the Embassy Cashier has confirmed payment, items can be picked up.  Receipt of payment is considered complete when money reaches the U.S. Embassy bank account.

Pick up location: Roberta C. Frasurea 1, Sarajevo, BiH (US Embassy building, side service entrance).

Pick up time: Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 08:30 - 16:30.

Any paid items that are not picked up during the scheduled time frame will be disposed of, and there will be no possibility for their retrieval. In special cases or circumstances, you may arrange a different pick-up date and time by contacting the Embassy representatives.

After successful confirmation of payment for your property, our staff will move your property out to the front of the storage building. From that time on, you are the owner of your property. You will have the full responsibility for subsequent handling procedures and removal from Embassy property in a timely manner. If items are not removed in a timely manner they may be considered abandoned and disposed of.
