The U.S. Embassy of Bujumbura sells these items “AS IS” for cash payment, without refund or warranty. The U.S. Embassy of Bujumbura shall not be responsible for the items condition nor its use after purchased by winning bidder. No claims will be accepted, no remedy will be offered.
The auction can be viewed for a period of 4 calendar days before bidding starts, with a clearly stated start and end date for bidding. Prior to the start of the bidding, you can browse the lots online, but you cannot place a bid. The auction will start accepting bids and will be active for 5 days. During this period, the auction is live and active 24 hours per day, every day. At any time while the auction is active, you may submit your bid for the lots on the site. To bid on any lots, you must register on the website, and login on each time to view items. You must abide by the requirements and regulations set forth on the website.
Each lot will have a minimum and maximum amount that bids can be raised. All bidding will be done in Burundi Francs (BIF) only.
During the auction you should watch the progress of your bids so that you can increase your bid if somebody outbids you and you want to post a higher bid. Please pay close attention to when the auction is going to end. The person with the highest bid at the end of the auction is the winner of the lot.
The public auction is open to everyone except U.S. Embassy Bujumbura personnel directly involve in preparing for, administering, or selecting property eligible for auction. Auction rules and additional information will be provided prior to the start of sale.
At the end of the auction, successful bidders will be notified via email immediately following the conclusion of an auction by the U.S. Embassy via BujumburaAuction@state.gov. Any information or question related to the Online Auction can be submitted to the same email.

Payment for your items is only possible in cash. Within the business days listed below, winning bids have a choice of three business days to make payments for winning bids. After the auction closes winning bidders must make their payment(Burundi Francs) along with a copy -both sides- of your Official ID or Passport to the cashier at the U.S. Embassy of Bujumbura cashier window. Winners must bring their proper identification (passport/ID card). **Institutions which require additional time for internal payment approvals, may seek an extension by contacting the embassy at the email address BujumburaAuction@state.gov. The funds will be collected on the below account: If you win more than one lot, you must pay the total amount due for all lots in one payment . Items can be retrieved only when total payment has been received. Receipt of payment is considered complete when the receipt of payment is provided by the Embassy cashier. IMPORTANY NOTE: After payment to the embassy cashier is done, the bidder must pay the taxes for the winning bid. This must be done at OBR. Within the business days listed above, winning bids have a choice of three business days to make payments for winning bids.
Contact the U.S. embassy within 7 business days after making payment for scheduling the pick-up of your winning merchandise. A phone number will be provided upon payment of your fees to schedule collection of your merchandise.
You will have the full responsibility for subsequent handling procedures and removal of Embassy property within these dates. If items are not removed within 30-days after payment of fees, they will be considered abandoned and disposed of by the embassy.
The Embassy will dispose of all items not picked up by the deadline. There are no exceptions to this rule and the Embassy will not provide refunds for items not picked up before the deadline.
PLEASE NOTE: All items are sold as is. The sale is considered final when the items are retrieved, and the receipt is signed by the buyer or their designee.
The Embassy does not deliver items purchased at the auction. Therefore, all buyers are responsible for picking up their own purchases. No assistance will be given to load your vehicle so please ensure that you come with adequate help to manage your merchandise.
