The United States Embassy in Nouakchott is organizing an online auction of surplus property no longer needed by the Embassy, which may include used furniture, appliances, equipment, supplies, vehicles, and scrap material. The auction takes place on a web-based auction platform: https://online-auction.state.gov/. Users must create an account in order to bid. U.S. Embassies around the world use this platform. If you are interested in bidding on items in Nouakchott, you must click on the Nouakchott auction before viewing lots.
Each auction will be open for a clearly defined period, typically two weeks. During this period, the auction is live and active 24 hours per day. Each lot may have a minimum or maximum bid increase. All bidding is in Mauritanian ouguiya (MRU).
The person with the highest bid at the end of the auction is the winner of the lot. At the end of the auction, successful bidders will be notified via email by that they have won.
All items are sold “AS IS” with no possibility of refund or exchange.
There will be designated payment and pickup days following each auction. Please read carefully so know when you can pay for and retrieve your items.
Winning bidders will need to come to the U.S. Embassy Consular Area to pay for their items in cash. They should bring a photo ID. They will receive a receipt.
They must then take their receipt to the Customs Office to pay applicable customs taxes on their purchases.

After paying applicable customs taxes, winners will come to the U.S. Embassy to pick up their lots. They must show Embassy payment receipt and customs receipt at that time.
