How it works

U.S. EMBASSY BELMOPANONLINE AUCTION/AGREEMENT/RULES 

 1. This will be an online auction conducted by U.S. Embassy Belmopan. 

 2.Online bidding will begin on 23 May at 8:00 am and close on 12 June at 6:00 pm. Bidders are required to register for the online auction using this link. https://online-auction.state.gov/en-US  

 3. Items placed for auction by the U.S. Embassy will be sold on a “NO GUARANTEE”, “AS IS” and “WHERE IS” basis. 

 4.CASH ONLY payments shall be made in Belize Dollars (BZD). No other currency will be accepted. The U.S. Embassy shall not release any items or ownership documents until full payment has cleared. 

 5. Winning bidders will be notified via email on 13 June 2025. Full payment must be made on 16 June 2025, at U.S. Embassy Belmopan between 9:00 am to 11:00 am. 

 6. Custom duties and all applicable taxes will be paid before items are released.

7. Upon receiving full payment, U.S. Embassy personnel will turn over the Foton Toano to the new owner.  From that moment onward, it becomes the sole responsibility of the winning bidder. 

8. Winning bidders who fail to pay for and pick up the Foton Toano without notifying the U.S. Embassy will be banned from all Embassy and US Peace Corps auctions for 1 calendar year. The abandoned lot will be awarded to the next highest bidder. 

9. Those individuals directly involved with auction preparations or who have insider knowledge of specific items may not participate in bidding. 

10.. The U.S. Government reserves the right to reject any bid that does not commensurate with the value of the property, or to reject any bid where there is evidence of connivance, collusion, or bribery.

How to pay for your items

Payment

The successful bidder must pay for their items in cash. the winning bidder must pay in person at the U.S. Embassy in Belmopan on Monday June 16th between 9:00am and 11:00am.  If payment is not made on the required date, the lot will be offered to the next-highest bidder.  No late-payment requests will be approved.  Custom duties and all applicable taxes will be paid before items are released.

 Kindly present Bill of Sale along with customs receipt to pick up. 

The bidder and those who accompany them on the day of pickup are subject to security screening.
